Who We Are
This privacy policy applies to the website of Varsity Alpine Club (Wollongong) Co-operative Limited, located at https://varsityalpine.com.au.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy can be found here. Once approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to our website, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS) within them as visitors to the site may download and extract this information from the images.
Cookies
When leaving a comment on our site, you have the option to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience so that you don’t need to enter these details again when making future comments. These cookies will remain active for one year. If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies; this cookie contains no personal data and is removed once you close your browser. Upon logging in, several cookies are set up to save your login information and screen display choices; these last for two days and a year respectively. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out of your account removes the login cookies. Editing or publishing an article results in another cookie being saved within your browser, indicating the post ID of the edited article; this expires after 1 day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on our site may contain embedded content such as videos, images, and articles sourced from other websites. Embedded content behaves in the same manner as if you had visited those sites directly. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking tools, and monitor your interaction with their content, including tracking interactions when logged into an account on that site.
Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, the resulting email will include your IP address.
How Long We Retain Your Data
Comments left on our site, along with their metadata, are retained indefinitely to recognise and automatically approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For registered users (if applicable), we store the personal information provided within their user profile; this can be viewed, edited, or deleted by the user at any time (except for the username). Website administrators also have access to and can edit this information.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you possess an account on our site or have left comments, you may request an exported file containing personal data we hold about you, including data provided by you. Additionally, you may request the erasure of any personal data held by us; however, this does not apply to data required for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may undergo automated spam detection checks.
